Mr. Boggs is the first teacher at

Crane High School to start a gay-straight alliance program (GSA). This is the second year the program has offered both straight and gay students a chance to talk and get things off of their chests, such as gay issues. Plus, it is a place where gay students don’t have to worry about being talked about. They order pizzas and have lunch in the room during their meetings three times a week. This program is a positive program for the students, because it allows the students a better environment to talk about issues that happens during school. Not only gay people are allowed, straight people are invited to come too but they must have a friend that’s in the program. This is help keep their privacy, because certain people don’t want everyone knowing their business. Also, it lets students know that they are not the only ones that are gay in the school. This way they won’t feel different or alone, and for a short while they don’t have to worry about what people think about them because they feel proud of who they are. Also they will know that they have something in common with other students that will make them want to come to school more and be involved. The program is in room 115, and it takes place every 6th period during lunch.
